This bowl of steel cut oats with maple fried bananas is the perfect warming and cozy breakfast recipe! You’ll love the combination of cinnamon, maple, bananas, and almond butter! Steel cut oats with maple fried bananas Alright. Your morning oatmeal is about to get a complete makeover. Seriously, I could eat these steel cut oats with maple fried bananas for dessert. At the moment there’s nothing I love to start my day with more than a big bowl of warming oats. Lately, I’ve been making steel cut oats (as opposed to quick oats) in the morning. At the beginning of the year, I was really loving smoothies in the morning, like my favorite green smoothie or a veggie-packed smoothie. But now, I’m on a total oatmeal binge! Steel cut oats are made by cutting the whole oat 2-3 times, into smaller pieces. Because they are less processed than quick oats or rolled oats, they digest slower. (So they have a lower glycemic index, and keep you full longer, win!) Health benefits of Steel cut oats:

  • High in Fiber

  • Great source of Iron

  • Have some protein

  • Help boost your energy

One difference you’ll notice about steel cut oats compared to quick oats or rolled oats is the cooking time. Steel cut oats take 10-15 minutes to cook. Yes, it’s a bit longer…BUT the taste and texture of these oats are so worth it! Steel cut oats with maple fried bananas You can also prepare your steel cut oats in advance. Simply prepare a pot of them the evening before, and store them in an air-tight container in the fridge. Then when it’s time for breakfast, just heat them up in a pot or in the microwave. The bananas only take 5 minutes to prepare. So you can turn this into a super quick easy breakfast recipe to enjoy at home, or even to take on the go.
